Bareboat Yacht Charters
What is a bareboat Caribbean yacht charter?
Chartering a “bareboat yacht” in the Caribbean simply means that you rent a yacht without the services of a captain and crew. The yacht comes supplied with linens and towels, all galley and dining necessities, charts and books about the cruising area, some ‘water toys’ like mats and floaties, and usually a bottle of local rum as a welcome gift!
Bareboating can be a fabulous vacation option for those who have previous boating experience, some knowledge of the area, and sailing or cruising know-how. Bareboating a Caribbean charter yacht can give you the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want to, and can be a great bonding experience for you and your family and friends.
This is how a bareboat vacation works from the time you contact us to the time you leave island:
• We work with you to find the best type of yacht for your group, which includes yacht size, type (monohull, catamaran, sailing, power, etc), and price.
• We work with the bareboat charter companies book your yacht vacation for you absolutely free of charge.
• You board a plane headed for the island on which your yacht is waiting for you!
• At the airport, a cab will be waiting to pick you up and take you to the charter company dock, or to your hotel if you arrive a day early.
• Once at the docks and checked in at reception, a staff member will help you take your bags the yacht and will welcome you aboard.
• There is usually a well-stocked grocery store nearby to provision your yacht before you leave, or, we can arrange for the charter company to provision the yacht for you which will be done upon your arrival.
• After you are settled, you will be briefed by the charter company on the cruising grounds of the islands, and given some advice on good spots to go, spots to avoid, and an overview on the “rules of the road” to help ensure your safety while cruising the islands.
• Just before you leave, you will be briefed on all the systems of your yacht, including the engines, rigging, galley, heads, battery systems etc. This will take about an hour and you should feel very comfortable with the yacht and ready to leave the harbor!
• You have the vacation of a lifetime, which may include itinerary advice from us if you wish, or you can take each day as it comes and enjoy ultimate peace and privacy in the Caribbean.
• On the last day of your charter, you will be welcomed back to the charter company’s dock and a dock-master will help you park your yacht in a slip.
• When you are all packed up and ready to go, a cab will be provided to take you to the airport.
• Upon your arrival home, we will contact you to hear all about your trip and make sure that everything went well!
